Roadmap

Complete the local loop before chasing bigger categories.

The roadmap is grounded in the competitive analysis: do not out-editor Cursor or out-cloud Warp and Devin. Make the local workstation loop excellent.

v0.5.2 release

Make the local loop friend-testable

  • Signed and notarized macOS DMGs, Linux packages, and a Windows NSIS installer are published through GitHub Releases.
  • Guided setup and New Project Wizard v2 now save selected agents before project creation and compress the flow into Project, Agents, Safety, and Preview.
  • MCP connection guide with paste-ready client snippets, token selection, last-seen status, and denied-call grant prefill.
  • Read-only agent tool health checks resolve tools with the same PATH used by spawned panes.
  • Cost model v2 adds pane, project, agent, source, and confidence fields; custom error patterns are Pro-gated.
  • Local license activation, trial state, Stripe Checkout Worker routes, and license-delivery webhook plumbing are in place for paid beta verification.

Current main

Harden first run and paid gates

  • First-run startup policy is locked so zero-project, returning-user, and corrupted-state paths have predictable launch behavior.
  • The New Project flow keeps chooser and mode screens separate, with copy sourced from the same launch-plan logic as the layout.
  • Free profiles cap active agents at two; Pro and Trial remove the cap without hiding configured extras.
  • Browser pins suspend while modals are active, keeping pinned Chrome windows out of critical dialogs.
  • Release CI now verifies the Tauri app version matches the release tag, and update entitlement rules are documented.

Next

Close the remaining local-loop gaps

  • Verify the live Stripe, Resend, webhook, and license-delivery path end to end before treating checkout as fully self-serve.
  • Pane and region screenshot capture to close the current marketing gap.
  • Web pane reload-on-error, console/network bridge into error detection, and per-pane budget kill switches.
  • Automated MCP config editing only after the dotfile safety story is accepted; current UI remains paste-only.
  • Failure bundles that combine pane screenshot, PTY snippet, web URL, console state, git diff summary, and recent cost.

Later

Strategic bets

  • Provider-backed chat runtime only after secure key storage, streaming IPC, conversation storage, and direct-provider cost accounting exist.
  • ACP read-only client prototype with one agent.
  • Hunk-level accept/reject diff editing only if the read-only viewer proves useful.
Current honesty line: the public release and current source line have window screenshot capture, not pane or region capture. Those modes are roadmap work because they matter to the feedback loop.
Also not shipped yet: provider-backed chat sending, pane and region capture, automated MCP config editing, optional project scaffolding writes, budget kill switches, and the fully verified self-serve paid path.
Permanently refused: built-in editor, cloud-hosted agents, mobile, Kanban/task board, built-in SSH, hosted model credits, and remote telemetry.
